Patients can keep a separate record for each joint, side, and operation. Research sharing is optional for each replacement and starts off. Choosing not to share changes neither your access nor your care.
What we collect
The operation planned or performed; patient-reported technique and implant information; health and function before surgery; recovery answers; and reports of unexpected care. Revisions remain separate from first replacements. People who postpone, cancel, or continue without surgery remain in the record.
What an answer means
Patient answers remain patient-reported. An authorized reviewer can verify an individual procedure detail against a document you linked to the replacement. A website referral, a surgeon's name, or a copied report does not automatically verify the technique.
The date an answer describes and the date it was collected are kept separately. A preoperative answer recalled after surgery is labeled as recall. A planned surgery date does not prove an operation happened.
Measures stay separate
Hip and knee records can include HOOS JR or KOOS JR. These are separate from the TJV Fit Score, TJV Readiness Score, and TJV Recovery Score. Other joints can be recorded, but their joint-specific questionnaires and care pathways are not enabled by this collection. A hip or knee score is never substituted for a shoulder, ankle, elbow, or wrist.

Your choice
In My replacements, open Research sharing to read the information, opt in, or withdraw. This permission is separate from the Preoperative Registry and does not authorize outside records retrieval. Existing permissions are not carried over automatically. Future research exports exclude a replacement after withdrawal; completed analyses and prior exports cannot be recalled automatically.
What this cannot prove
This is a volunteer collection, not a census of every surgeon's patients. Missing follow-up is reported as missing. Coded exports remain restricted. This feature publishes no patient records, surgeon rankings, or comparative treatment claims.
Before evaluating a technique, a study needs its own research determination, protocol, suitable comparison group, analysis plan, and outcome definitions. This collection is not a registered trial or a declaration of research approval. Methods should address selection, missingness, and exposure classification; see FDA real-world evidence guidance.
